Hughenden stream started to flow again

In January this year the stream at Hughenden started to flow again from a spring half way up Spring Rising but in February it was thought that there had been a sewage discharge from the pumping station and the National Trust put up signs advising people to keep themselves and their pets out of the water.  We contacted Thames Valley Water in early March and were told that after testing on 7th March, it was found that there was actually no contamination from the pumping station at Hughenden.

Flooded field by pumping station

The field by the pumping station at the beginning of the stream is at the present time almost a flood plain and it is difficult to spot individual springs although there is one by the willow tree and another in the large dew pond.

It is difficult at this time to imagine the fields without the meandering stream running through it but of course it will not be long before it unfortunately dries up again.
