Chiltern Society River and Wetlands Group Spring Meeting
10 am Saturday 24 March 2018
The Committee Room, Amersham Community Centre
Chiltern Avenue, Amersham, HP6 5AH
Are you interested in the state of the rivers and streams of the Chilterns?
Then you are invited to the Rivers and Wetlands Group’s spring meeting to hear the latest news from across the Chilterns.
Haydon Bailey, the Chiltern Society geologist and an expert on the local chalk, will talk about the impact of HS2 on the Misbourne and after a lunch break there will be a visit to Shardeloes Lake and Chalfont St Giles to assess the geology of the area.
Sue Crooks, hydrologist, will present the rainfall and groundwater level data – the low level of water in the aquifer is causing concern and up to date information will be presented.
We will be updated on the various projects and activities across the AONB.
Our own River Watchers will give us an update on their personal observations on all of the major streams in the area.
If you are joining us in the afternoon please bring your lunch.
There is free parking at the weekends in the Chiltern Council’s car park in King George V Road adjacent to the Community Centre.
