Friends of the Wye conservation at Holywell Mead – Friday 9 August 2024
Eight Friends of the Wye volunteers formed an energetic work party tackling the stretch of the Back Stream backing on to houses on Keep Hill Road.
Five people worked in the river with three others collecting the debris from the banks and making piles of it to be removed later by the Council.
A lot of vegetation that was blocking the channel was removed, along with a lot of fresh branches left in the water following recent tree lopping work.
It was hard work and everyone got quite wet and mud splattered and had to have faces wiped down before having a break with tea and biscuits!
Everyone went home happy to have achieved a noticeable difference and our thanks go to everyone involved.
